Sticks and stones along with a dirty slur.
by shotgun insince first coming out to family with doubts and subsequently the elders i have been labelled as apostate or on the path of apostasy.. i had never realized what a disgusting dirty word jw's make this into until it applied to me?
during meetings, comments from the publications even remarks from children and so on reflect the hatred the word carries with it to them.
i know a word is only as powerful as you make it but boy they have made the word apostate huge in the minds of all dubs.. yesterday when i got home my wife related her day with our child and how they spent it visiting another sister and her children.

Irregardless of the doom and gloom scenarios predicting the worst possible outcome, you should restrain your thoughts and get control of your emotions.
People are very unpredictable sometimes and can surprise you in the end. Give human spirit a chance. Your wife may very well come around given enough time and patience. Don't fill your mind with negativity anymore. Just be loving if you still love her, and if you don't try to find the reasons that inspired your love in the beginning.
Don't be a quitter if at all possible and save your family. You owe it to them and yourself. -

TIME TO MAKE THE DONUTS!!!!
by LDH indoes anyone remember the ad campaign for dunkin donuts back in the 1980's?
it featured a guy named "fred" responding to his alarm clock as though he were a spokesman for the pavlov's dogs theory.. any time that damn bell rang (mostly in the middle of the night), fred would bolt out of bed and say, "time to make the donuts!
" he was a donut-making machine, i tell you!.

Your list was very good and helpful. I just don't think I would ever use it or bother trying to witness to a witness. Witnesses already believe their search for God is over therefore, they are only pliable after they have suffered disappointment, disillusionment and unhappiness or tragedy.

Although it would not be a date, if I could have an opportunity to meet with one person, it would be Marco Polo.
I would spend the entire time asking questions and recording the entire conversation. -

Christianity promotes a helpless victim mentality...
by logansrun ini'm going to be a man of few words here.
christianity, in it's truest, fundamentalist form, promotes an unhealthy and non-productive victim mentality.
the christian feels helpless on his own -- condemned by sin and absolutely unworthy.

In the final analysis of it all, once can actually trim the "fat" in the discussion and settle upon the real impetus for all of this inquiry, the question and fear of death.
We will all face it and how we handle or ignore this fact depends on our need to search for answers or acceptance of limitations.
If you are not afraid of death, then it is not an issue. If you are as most of us are, you may find yourself having to "manage" the reality of death and lack of further information of what lies beyond, if anything at all. Life is already difficult to manage without this additional issue.
Therefore, the propensity to rely and depend on religion is probably equal or greater to the propensity to fear death and the unknown.
What you believe depends a lot on your personal management of death in your future. -

The US military INTENTIONALLY KILLS innocent people??? Where?? When???
by Stan Conroy inthis question was posed by yeru in another post.
i have no interest in getting involved in that post, but this is an interesting question.
supporters of the us feel that there country alone is on the moral high ground, and incapable of such an act.

Simon:
Maybe I can impartially answer one portion of "Why did America?". Recently, the history channel (not error free nor the oracle of delphi by any means) broadcasted a special or two about General MacArthur.
Obviously, the war with Japan was a major topic and I remember distinctly that the program paraphrased the military planners/war cabinet expressing that no war ends without punishing the enemy for causing the war in the first place. It was international unwritten custom to remove territory, demand reparations and punish the enemy for the war.
So, the program left me with an impression that the decision makers were anxious to send Japan a message and punish them for the war. Just two cents from the history channel about 3 weeks ago, according to my recollection. -

Could you get reinstated?
by Gadget inif you wanted to, would you be able to convince your local elders to reinstate you?
you'd have to go to every meeting, sitting at the back, showing 'the right attitude' and not talking to anyone.
you'd have to do this for 6 months to 1 year.

It is so predictably easy that it is not worthy of accomplishment. The amount of time and attendance required outweigh the value of success.
